What you told us

Some have been frustrated by the limitations they feel have been put in place. For example one young person felt let down by mental health services and another their needs were not properly recognised. Some young people told us they had received good support from Orkney Blide Trust to support positive mental health.


Our Commitment

Orkney is committed to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of care leavers by ensuring that they have access to timely, trauma-informed, and person-centred support throughout their transition to adulthood.

Care leavers will receive

  • Supported access to a wide range of mental health and wellbeing services tailored to their individual needs including Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Psychological Therapies, counselling providers, advocacy services, bereavement support and substance use services.
  • Support for those affected by domestic abuse, sexual violence.
  • Support for those with caring responsibilities or family difficulties.
  • Opportunities to connect with peers, participate in community activities, build supportive relationships, and engage in wellbeing-focused programmes further promote resilience and positive mental health.
